five minute friday – voice
Welcome to five minute Friday to where us bloggers are given a word prompt and write for just 5 minutes simply for the joy of writing.
No editing or backtracking necessary. No need to be perfect. Just words freely flowing from my heart to yours.
Today’s Five minute Friday word is {voice}
Being a victim of abuse as a child, the one thing that I never had was a voice to speak! Having a voice is the one thing that was taken from me as a child; but the one thing I got back and found as an adult today.
I created this blog 2 years ago because I wanted my voice to be heard! I wanted to reach out to others who also share the same story; the same emotions and feelings. I wanted to walk with others through the trials and grief of healing and recovering.
My voice through this blog has had it’s very hard consequences this year, but the good it has brought me outweighs any of the negative it brought.
I have learned the hard way that sometimes when having a big voice to speak will come with it’s consequences, but it will also have it’s joy and it’s rewards – like meeting wonderful people and connecting with others who know what it’s like to be me.
Having a voice today is healing for me because it’s something I never had as a child, and it’s something I can use freely today.
I always had a voice, but I needed to find the courage to use it to speak about what was deep within, and I thank therapy and having a wonderful therapist for helping me to reach in and grab a hold of it.. and because of that, today I use my voice to heal and help others as well.
Talking about the abuse and sharing it with others on this blog is healing for me in so many ways, and I am so glad that I do have the courage to speak my voice today, and It’s something I wont let anyone take from me today.
